Beautiful Bichon Frise Puppies are Here!

September 6, 2018

You’ve seen them. They’re little and puffy and all white!

The Bichon Frise (pronounced bee-SHON free-ZAY) has long been recognized as good companion dogs because of their cheerful, and even temperaments. Want to know about this little puffball? Read along with our blog to discover exciting facts about Bichons!

  • The Bichon Frise is a descendant from the Barbet, an old breed of Water Spaniel, from the Mediterranean region of Europe. They are said to be related to the Poodle.

  • Speaking of Poodles…The Bichon puppy has a beautiful coat like the Poodle, but what makes it even more spectacular is that they are hypoallergenic. They shed very little. This means people who suffer from dog allergies can take home a Bichon Frise for sale.

  • Bichons average in weight from 8 to 12 pounds and are slightly longer than they are tall.

  • The Bichon’s name means “curly coated,” in French. To maintain their fluffy coats, you will need to brush and groom your dog daily. They require considerable time for the maintenance of their luxurious coats. They need grooming, bathing and trimming on a regular basis to keep them from getting matted.

  • You’ll see that an adult Bichon Frise for sale has an entirely white coat, but as a puppy, they are born in gray, apricot, or butter shades. They eventually grow to the snow-white color that they sport as adult dogs.

  • Bichons are born toothless, deaf, and blind. The pups do not fully open their eyes until they are at least 12 days old.

  • The Bichon Frise has an average lifespan of 12 to 15 years.

  • They are easy to train when it comes to tricks and commands. You’ll find that they love to please and respond well to positive reinforcement and treats. However, they need patience and consistency with training.

  • They are really intelligent and sociable. They don’t like being alone for long periods of time otherwise they will suffer from separation anxiety.

  • While they make excellent apartment dogs, they do require regular daily exercise and would appreciate some outdoor playtime.
