We are animal lovers and it’s evident because we have several animals for sale in our store and they include rabbits!

Rabbits are very popular and common household pets and we’ve gathered 20 fascinating facts to prove just why.

  1. Rabbits have 28 teeth that never stop growing. They grow approximately 47 inches a year.
  2. A rabbit can run (or rather hop) 25-45 miles per hour.
  3. A rabbit takes approximately 18 naps per day.
  4. Despite their looks, rabbits are not rodents. We do, however, have some animals for sale that fall within the rodent family.
  5. A rabbit’s heart beats approximately 150-200 times per minute as opposed to that of human, which is 60-70 times per minute.
  6. The whiskers of a rabbit are as long as its body is wide, helping it to figure out if it can fit through a tight space.
  7. Rabbits and hares are two different species and cannot reproduce with each other.
  8. The best natural fertilizer is rabbit droppings. While we sell a lot of supplies for the animals for sale in our store, this isn’t one of them!
  9. Rabbits can swim, but many don’t like to do it.
  10. Rabbits are farsighted, but can see almost 360 degrees. It’s pretty impossible to sneak up behind a rabbit, but they do have a blind spot in the front. Purchase one of our rabbit animals for sale and try it for yourself!
  11. Speaking of their sight, rabbits have limited color vision, but can perceive the colors of red and green.
  12. Rabbits were domesticated by the Romans in 300 BC. They were primarily used for meat and fur and weren’t held as pets until the early 20th century.
  13. A male rabbit is called a buck, a female is a doe, and a baby is a kit or a kitten.
  14. Rabbit babies are born blind and naked. Our rabbit animals for sale aren’t clothed, but have full sight!
  15. The biggest rabbit breed is the German Giant, weighing 16-20 pounds. The smallest is the Netherland Dwarf and it weighs just under 2.5 pounds.
  16. There are more than 300 different breeds of rabbits worldwide and 47 of them are recognized in the United States.
  17. Domesticated rabbits can live 10-12 years. Wild rabbits live only 1-2 years.
  18. China is the world’s leader in rabbit meat production.
  19. Rabbits cannot vomit nor sweat.
  20. Rabbits are among the Top 10 most popular pets in the United States.
